The runner must learn early in his career to observe keenly the symptoms his body reveals when responding favourably and unfavourably to a training programme. Tom Osler
Running Form
Moving your arms across your body can produce a torque in your legs and waste energy. Think about elbowing someone behind you, and avoid moving your hands more than eight inches from your body. Keep your shoulders down and relaxed, lifting your shoulders wastes valuable energy.
Run tall, leaning too far forward puts pressure on your lower back and the front of you knees. Try to land quietly, if you hear a slapping footfall you are landing with too much force- force that your body has to absorb. This can increase your injury risk because the force exacerbates whatever weaknesses you have in your legs and joings. Think "light and quick" and not keeping your feet on the ground as long.
